The “bio link” is the only way to link out to sites from Instagram. But what if you want to send your audience to more than one place? That’s now possible with the Linktree service.
Before I tell you about my experience with Linktree, let’s get some of the details out of the way…
What is Linktree?
Linktree is a free tool that gives you a global link to put in your Instagram bio.
What does Linktree do?
When people click your Linktree link, they’re sent to a super basic landing page where they have the option of clicking on a number of custom links that you create.
Why should I use Linktree?
Use Linktree so you never have to update your Instagram bio link ever again. Load up your Linktree link with the main places you want to send Instagram traffic and if you ever need to make changes, just make them through Linktree. It’s free and easy.
Oh, and you get analytics to see which of your links are getting the most clicks.
My experience with Linktree…
I was browsing hashtags on Instagram when I noticed a “linktr.ee” short link in someone’s profile.
I didn’t know if that was yet another link shortening service like bit.ly or goo.gl or something different, so I Googled it. #BeCuriousPeople
I’m glad I did because I found a pretty cool free tool.
Linktree is basically a very simple landing page builder with customizable links and built-in analytics.
You sign up for a free account, add your links (the destinations you want your audience to be able to choose from), and then copy your unique linktr.ee URL…
Now you set your Instagram bio link to your linktr.ee URL and you’re done.
When people click your bio link, they’ll be taken to a list of links they can choose from.
They’ll be more inclined to visit multiple URLs (assuming you’ve used some interesting titles) and engage with you on a much deeper level.
Another thing this is great for is time-sensitive links. If you’re announcing videos or blog articles or promotions, you can add them to your Linktree and then remove them when they’re no longer relevant.
The best part of all this is that you never have to touch your Instagram bio link ever again. Once it’s set to your Linktree URL, all your changes can be done through your Linktree dashboard.
If you upgrade to Linktree Pro (for a few dollars a month), you can even schedule your links to turn on and off automatically…
That’s not all. You get some other cool stuff with Pro…
- See a day-by-day breakdown of link traffic.
- Give access to your team to manage your Linktree and links.
- Complete customization of your Linktree colors and button styles.
- Change the title of your Linktree.
- Time your links to go live in-line with scheduled posts.
- Retarget your Linktree visitors on Facebook and Instagram by adding your Facebook Pixel ID.
It’s a pretty powerful little tool in the right hands.
Check it out and see if it’ll be useful to you!
